A mysterious all-white container has been standing for some time in front of the Château Frontenac, near the Terrasse Dufferin. It was installed and unveiled by the Quebec City Tourism Boardin early July, in collaboration with the Quebec Carnival Workshops, in order to encourage international tourists to come back during winter and visit the attractions of the city and its surroundings.
Its indoor temperature oscillates between -4 ° C and -8 ° C and presents typical elements like the front doors of the Ice Hotel, an ice sculpture, a chairlift backdrop, snow in the windows, etc.
To offset the energy needed to cool the "winter box", Fairmont Le Château Frontenac has planted 1,000 trees in the Montmorency forest, as part of the Château Boréal environmental program.
It will be in operation from July 3 to September 3, 2018, 7 days a week. Admission is free.
Opening hours: from noon to 9pm.
